Did you know that headache is actually a pain arising from the upper neck of the body. Headaches originates at the tissues and structures then it feels as if it surrounds the brain. When the pain is serious it can cause side effects such as those related to migranes.

The most common type of headache is called Tension Headache, believed to be caused by tight muscles in the scalp, neck, shoulders, or even jaw. They can be related to stress, depression, head injury etc. The other type of severe headache is known as a Migraine. It usually occurs with symptoms such as change of vision or nausea and comes with throbbing, pounding, or pulsating pain. If you have a kind of headache that is very sharp, painful, causes tears and tends to occur many times, perhaps for a few weeks then goes away on its own – it can be considered as Cluster headache (one sided head pain), this kind of headache is intense and needs immediate treatment.

Headaches at times might be difficult to bear but there are there are ways to relieve headaches naturally through Chiropractic Adjustments. Alternative self-help methods you can try include

  • Finding a quiet peaceful place and take a break, take deep breaths, close your eyes and try to still the mind. To take attention away from the pain try to focus on the breath.
  • Pain relievers such as panadol, aspirin, etc….to be take in moderation and only when urgent as the body can get use to them
  • Drink a plenty of water, sometime dehydration also lead to headache
  • Put something soft and cool (ie. ice pack) over your forehead that may can help keep blood vessels cool
  • Massage your scalp, neck and earlobes to remove tension/stress.
