As used in the practice of acupuncture dry needling utilises a solid, filament needle, and relies on the stimulation of specific reactions in the target tissue for its therapeutic effect of muscle pain, sometimes Dry Needling is also termed as intramuscular stimulation. Technique is aimed to achieve a local jerk response to release muscle strain and pain, making it an effective treatment for chronic pain of neuropathic origin. It is very effective technique used in medical field for the treatment of the pain to get relief. This technique is different than injection needling it is an kind of non injection needling it does not involve any kind of hypodermic syringe or use of the injection of an agent like saline, local anaesthetic and corticosteroid into the tissue or specific anatomical parts. Dry needling only utilises a solid, filament needle, the way it was used in the practice of the acupuncture.
Dry needling, is different than acupuncture as the way it’s taught and used now differ from acupuncture. It is not primarily used as holistic medicine purpose but it is simply used for musculoskeletal purpose. Dry needling is used in physical therapy practice. Practitioners appreciate traditional Chinese medicine technique and respect it. Dry Needling is not like acupuncture but acupuncture seems like dry needling.
A troubling muscle can often be sore and little weakened right after the dry needling is done, but the patient will experience benefits in wide range of motion and joint use very soon. Dry needling has been proved and accepted over world for being so effective in pain relief. Not like acupuncture, the healing of dry needling are not based upon the flow of traditional Chinese medicine technique, the dry needling technique in fact is far easier for the average therapist than acupuncture technique. Dry needling techniques really need a knowledge of musculoskeletal medicine.
Most people do not feel pain while inserting the needle inside the muscle but they may feel a dull achy feeling. Then people feel a jump in the muscle, a local twitch response. Local twitch response will extract a very brief but tender sensation.
